Last Friday, inside a prison chapel, 17 men walked across a stage and received something most of them had never held before... a diploma.

Over the last 13 months, these men completed more than 300 hours of theology, leadership, and Bible training through our TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute) program. Week after week they attended class. Committed to finishing the program. Scripture memorization. Final exams. Ministry projects. They didn’t quit!

Some had never graduated from anything before! One graduate, in his 60s, had his family there to watch. You could see it on their faces: this was more than a piece of paper, it was proof that change is possible. That it’s never too late to start something new and finish it.

As each man’s name was called, the room filled with pride, tears, and joy. It didn’t matter how long they’d been inside or how much time they had left- this moment was about legacy. About becoming men who lead, who finish what they start, and who carry the Gospel wherever they go.

This is what hope looks like inside prison walls.
