We just launched our 89th campus at Luther Luckett in La Grange, Kentucky, and God showed up in a big way! More than 110 men came to the very first service. The chapel hit capacity, so we opened the lobby for overflow. And by the end of the night, 65 men had made a decision to follow Jesus!

“I want everyone in the yard to hear this”

The chapel at Luther Luckett has windows that prop open. Right before service started, the chaplain asked his men to open every one of them.

His reason? He wanted to blast the service across the yard, so every man who didn’t make it inside would know exactly what he was missing. That night, worship didn’t stay inside four walls. The Gospel went out the windows and into the yard.

A young man with a plan

We talked with one man who told us many guys his age inside are caught up in gangs. He’s grateful for opportunities like this one that give them a real chance to change. Growing up, he spent most of his time with his grandparents. As a teenager, he stopped listening to them, got into trouble, and ended up inside.

He’s carrying real grief right now after a recent family loss, and you could see the hurt on his face even as he tried to hide it. But he’s holding on to hope. He’ll finish his high school diploma in December and then start HVAC school. As he put it, if you don’t have goals when you leave, you’ll end up back inside. His biggest goal? To be present for his young son.
